Meaningful Connections Classroom and Real-life Scenarios

Agricultural Education Career Development Events

FFA members develop responsibility, foster teamwork, and enhance communication skills through participation in Career Development Events (CDEs). Whether they gain public speaking experience, practice their job interview skills, or study the real-life applications of food, animal and plant sciences, members are able to realize the value of ethical competition and achievement.

Ohio FFA strives to develop CDEs that demonstrate the meaningful connections between the agricultural-science classroom instruction and real-life situations. The events are designed to help prepare students for a wide variety of careers in agriculture and to support this vibrant industry in Ohio and beyond. Ohio FFA offers 45 different CDEs. Each year approximately 10,000 high school and middle school members participate in at least one contest, while some participate in multiple events.

Annually it takes approximately 400 volunteers who collectively donate over 1,000 hours of their time and expertise every year, to help make Ohio CDEs a success. If you would like to be contacted about how you can contribute, please click here to complete a volunteer interest form.
