Professional Development

The Agricultural Education Service provides teachers of agriculture with numerous opportunities to hone their skills in an effort to stay current with the latest changes in the industry. The following technical updates are provided to teachers at a nominal cost through collaborative efforts between the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Association for Agricultural Educators, Ohio State University and Wilmington College.

New Teacher Success Series – Part I

When: September 26, 2018 (9:00 am-4:30 pm)

Topics: Classroom Management, Substitute Teacher Plans, Best Practices, CDE’s, Curriculum, Compliance and Funding
This series of workshops are designated for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year teachers in all Agricultural Education programs, pathways and licensure venues who value professional development opportunities to collaborate with teachers statewide in an effort to become more efficient and prepared for the early years of the teaching profession. We will meet three times annually in order to provide continued support throughout the  year reflecting current issues and upcoming activities in the Agricultural Education calendar throughout the school year.

Horticulture Professional Development

When: October 3, 2018

Topics: Ohio Certified Nursery Technician, Assessment Preparation Resources Development
This one day workshop will offer educators an opportunity to collaborate in developing assessment preparation resources for the Ohio Certified Nursery Technician industry credential exam for Garden Center and Grower. The release of resources created at last year’s workshop will be shared. Teachers attending the workshop should bring curriculum maps, course syllabus, and text books used in their classroom as reference during the development portion of the workshop.
