Professional Development

The Agricultural Education Service provides teachers of agriculture with numerous opportunities to hone their skills in an effort to stay current with the latest changes in the industry. The following technical updates are provided to teachers at a nominal cost through collaborative efforts between the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Association for Agricultural Educators, The Ohio State University and Wilmington College.

New Teacher Success Series Part 3

When: May 16-17, 2019
Where: Ohio FFA Center
This series of workshops is designated for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year teachers in all Ag Ed programs, pathways and licensure venues who value professional development opportunities to collaborate with teachers statewide to become more efficient and prepared for the early years of the teaching profession. We will meet three times annually to provide continued support throughout the year reflecting current issues and upcoming activities in the Ag Ed calendar throughout the school year. Topics for Part 3 include SAE, Record Keeping, SAE Visits, Curriculum Planning and Mapping, and Officer Team/POA Planning.

Summer Agricultural Education Conference

When: June 11-13, 2019

Where: OSU – Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, Columbus, OH
The Agricultural Education Summer Conference is a professional conference designed for teachers of agriculture to network and get the latest on classroom resources. The content delivered at this conference is standards based, industry and post-secondary connect and student centered. Teachers are issued contact hours for their participation and are encouraged to attend the Ohio Association of Agricultural Educators banquet and activities.

Briggs & Stratton Power School

When: June 25-27, 2019
Where: The Ohio State University – Ag Engineering Building
This 3-day course should arm you with enough knowledge and confidence to conduct your own basic small engine class. The program is a curriculum that follows lesson plans designed for high schools and middle schools. See registration link for specific topics that will be covered.
Registration Cost – $500.00 (lodging not included)
