Professional Development

The Agricultural Education Service provides teachers of agriculture with numerous opportunities to hone their skills in an effort to stay current with the latest changes in the industry. The following technical updates are provided to teachers at a nominal cost through collaborative efforts between the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Association for Agricultural Educators, Ohio State University and Wilmington College.

2016-2017 Ohio Ag Ed Professional Development Guide

Animal Pathway Workshop-Mid-West Veterinary Conference

When: February 22-26, 2017
Where: Ohio FFA Center and Columbus Convention Center
This year, we will be hosting a group event on February 22 at 3 pm at the Ohio FFA center, before utilizing the magnitude of opportunity hosted within the Midwest Veterinary Conference held at the Columbus Convention Center February 23-26, 2017. Wednesday evening, we will be discussing course competency use in the construction of course delivery as well as how they play a part in performance based assessment and work based learning. Tentative plans are to work with a popular lab company to demonstrate a variety of classroom lab tests for small and large animal testing. Also that evening, we will enjoy a relaxing but fun dinner at a Columbus restaurant. Thursday through Sunday, you will have the opportunity to submerge your interests in all areas animal as the Midwest Veterinary Conference will host world class educational sessions. Horticulture Pathway Professional Development

When: July 10-11, 2017 
Where: Upper Valley Career Center, Piqua, OH
This two day professional development will center around courses and standards in the A5 Horticulture Pathway. Time will be spent on industry tours and hands-on labs focused around the Landscape Design & Landscape Hardscape Courses

Natural Resources Professional Development

When: July 12-13, 2017 
Where: Hocking College, Nelsonville, OH
This two day professional development will center around courses and standards in the A6 Natural Resources Pathway. Time will also be spent on industry tours focused on Forestry and Woodland Ecosystems, Urban Forestry and Environmental Systems Management Courses content along with hands on updates on the Forestry and Natural Resources CDE’s.
