Professional Development

The Agricultural Education Service provides teachers of agriculture with numerous opportunities to hone their skills in an effort to stay current with the latest changes in the industry. The following technical updates are provided to teachers at a nominal cost through collaborative efforts between the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Association for Agricultural Educators, The Ohio State University and Wilmington College.

Food Science/Bioscience Professional Development

Where: Global Impact Stem Academy, Springfield, OH
This workshop will center around the Food Science/Bioscience curriculum in the A0/A3 Pathways. Lesson plans and programming best practices will be shared during lunch.

AET Fall Workshop – Utilizing AET in the 3 Circle Model

When: November 16-17, 2018
Where: Ohio FFA Center, Columbus, OH
Teachers will learn about the valuable time savers AET offers when managing an Ag Ed program as well as the tools to simplify communication with students, parents, administrators, and stakeholders. They will capture the essence of recording work-based learning in a placement setting in various pathway environments. Participants will practice current and capital inventory transactions as related to scenarios, cash and labor exchange income and expenses associated with such enterprises as well as the planning requirements involved in managing a business.

New Teacher Success Series Part 2

This series of workshops is designated for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year teachers in all Ag Ed programs, pathways and licensure venues who value professional development opportunities to collaborate with teachers statewide to become more efficient and prepared for the early years of the teaching profession. We will meet three times annually to provide continued support throughout the year reflecting current issues and upcoming activities in the Ag Ed calendar throughout the school year. Topics for Part 2 include items from the FFA Circle of the 3-circle model.

Summer Agricultural Education Conference

The Agricultural Education Summer Conference is a professional conference designed for teachers of agriculture to network and get the latest on classroom resources. The content delivered at this conference is standards based, industry and post-secondary connect and student centered. Teachers are issued contact hours for their participation and are encouraged to attend the Ohio Association of Agricultural Educators banquet and activities.
