Professional Development

The Agricultural Education Service provides teachers of agriculture with numerous opportunities to hone their skills in an effort to stay current with the latest changes in the industry. The following technical updates are provided to teachers at a nominal cost through collaborative efforts between the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Association for Agricultural Educators, The Ohio State University, Wilmington College and Central State University.

A2 Pathway Professional Development

When: May 17, 2022
Where: Ohio FFA Center, Columbus, OH
An A2 opportunity has presented itself to collaborate with business and industry as 2022 is the revision year for Animal Care CDE’s. At this A2 pathway professional development, we will review business and industry inputs on CDE’s and collaborate with Aquarium World to revise the Aquarium Management CDE. Additionally, we will discuss Work Based Learning initiatives and reporting.

AET Summer Professional Development Series

When: May 31, 2022 and/or June 1, 2022

This in-person series is designed to meet each teacher educator at their level of experience in Chapter and Student resources that will give time back to the teacher when fully utilized. We will be offering several content-specific sessions in which teachers can choose to attend those sessions that meet their learning needs. Click on registration link for complete details.

New Teacher Success Series

When: June 6, 2022

The New Teacher Success Series workshops are designed for 1st, 2nd and 3rd year teachers in all Agricultural Education programs, pathways ad licensure venues who value professional development opportunities. Attendees will collaborate with teachers statewide to become more efficient and prepared for the early years of the teaching profession. This session is open to all 2022 Ag Ed graduates. The session will provide a foundation for being a successful agriculture teacher throughout the year. The morning session is targeted for alternatively licenses teachers and teachers with no Ag Ed background. The afternoon session is targeted for all first, second, and third year teachers as well as 2022 Ag Ed graduates.

Agricultural Education Summer Conference

When: June 7-9, 2022
Where: Nationwide & Farm Bureau 4-H Center, Columbus, OH
The Agricultural Education Summer Conference is a professional conference designed for teachers of agriculture to network and get the latest on classroom resources. The content delivered at this conference is standards based, industry and post-secondary connect and student centered. Teachers are issued contact hours for their participation and are encouraged to attend the Ohio Association of Agricultural Educators banquet and activities. Consider attending this exciting professional development  – it will not disappoint!

2022 AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION COLLEGE GRADUATES – ALL 2022 Agricultural Education College graduates are invited to attend the 2022 Ohio Ag Ed Summer Conference and your registration cost is waived. Registration opens May 9, 2022 by emailing Brenda Correll, and closes May 27, 2022. Please keep in mind that attendance is expected if you register.

PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS – In total, 20 spots with waived registration cost are available for pre-service teachers, or first-through fourth-year students at Central State University, The Ohio State University and Wilmington College planning to pursue a career as an agricultural educator. Registration for Pre-Service teachers opens on May 16, 2022 by e-mailing Brenda Correll, and closed May 27, 2022. Please keep in mind that attendance is expected if you register.

Using Agriscience Fair as a Blended 3-Circle Model

When: June 16, 2022
Where: Ohio FFA Center, Columbus, OH
This one-day workshop will demonstrate how to integrate research methods through Agriscience Fair into classroom instruction while blending it with SAE and FFA. Additionally, best practices for successful technical writing, display creation and Agriscience Fair interviews will be covered. If you are interested in exposing your students to agricultural research or improving their Agriscience Fair projects, this is a great opportunity for you to attend.
