Professional Development

The Agricultural Education Service provides teachers of agriculture with numerous opportunities to hone their skills in an effort to stay current with the latest changes in the industry. The following technical updates are provided to teachers at a nominal cost through collaborative efforts between the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, the Ohio Association for Agricultural Educators, The Ohio State University, Wilmington College and Central State University.

New Teacher Success Series Professional Development

Thanks to the generous support of Ohio Corn and Wheat, registration for this event is complimentary. We encourage you to honor their contribution by making attendance a priority. This series of workshops is designated for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year teachers in all Ag Ed programs, pathways, and licensure venues who value professional development opportunities to collaborate with teachers statewide to become more efficient and prepared for the early years of the teaching profession. We will meet three times in person annually to provide continued support throughout the year, reflecting on current issues and upcoming activities in the Ag Ed calendar throughout the school year. This program is designed to support Agricultural Education instructors during their first years of teaching. State Staff, along with the Ohio Association of Agricultural Educators and seasoned teachers, will provide teachers in their first years of teaching with information as it related to the three components of Agricultural Education: Classroom/Lab Instruction, FFA, and Supervised Agricultural Experiences within these professional development sessions.

Forging Shop Basics for Ag Educators

This session will cover shop safety, welding and metal fabrication, shop management & equipment, and connecting with experienced Ag Ed shop teachers for ongoing support. Ohio Agricultural Education Summer Conference

When: June 10-12, 2025 
Where: Wilmington College, Wilmington, OH
The Agricultural Education Summer Conference is an exciting 3-day professional conference designed for Ohio teachers of agriculture to network and get the latest classroom updates and resources. The content delivered at this conference is standards based and student centered. Teachers are issued contact hours for their participation and college credit is available for purchase through OAAE’s partnership with Ashland University.

2025 AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION COLLEGE GRADUATES-All 2025 Agricultural Education college graduates are invited to attend the 2025 Ohio Ag Ed Summer Conference and your registration cost is waived. Registration opens May 5, 2025 by emailing Brenda Correll and closes May 30, 2025. Please keep in mind that attendance is expected if you register.
PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS-In total, 20 spots with waived registration cost are available for pre-service teachers, or first-through fourth-year students at Central State University, The Ohio State University and Wilmington College planning to pursue a career as an agricultural educator. Registration for Pre-Service teachers opens on May 12, 2025 by emailing Brenda Correll and closes May 30, 2025. Please keep in mind that attendance is expected if you register.
